I invented The Matrix. Seriously, don’t laugh at me. This isn’t one of those stupid claims that Gazz might make, like he invented Malteser Ice Cream or something equally as dumb like me devising Skins, and writing the car chase in Bad Boys 2 (although both those things are actually true – Michael Bay, you still owe me that $268,696,624).

No this is true. My apologies if this includes SPOILERS! for anyone waiting to see the film, but c’mon. It’s ten years old, sort your life out!

The idea of the film is that the world as we know it, is not as it truthfully exists. This makes it in the same vein as others like The Truman Show, or The Village. Not really a sub genre, more just a sub theme. The Matrix would be classed as a Sci-Fi, whereas The Truman Show more of a comedy and The Village a horror, although all three are based solidly around Sci-Fi themes. Anyway, The Matrix suggests that the world in which we live is simply electronically created. We are all, in reality being grown on huge ‘Human Farms’ by a superior race of machines. Not the kind of human-like killing machine in James Cameron’s Terminator series image of the future, but more like a faceless race of computer programs. We are being harvested for our bodies’ energy, never conscious. However as the body needs some form of consciousness to the brain to continue its willingness to survive, they have created The Matrix, a program based around giving us the world in which we used to live to appease our sense of reality and for us to comply with the real world.

My invention of this was my thought that the world was not in fact, real. It was a computer program all of humanity was being forced to accept. This was when I was about ten years old. This is 1994, a full 5 years before The Matrix was released, i.e. the perfect amount of time for someone (whom I had confided my idea in) to take it to Warner Bros and sell it for millions. Damn you Adam Jones!!!

As if you need more proof to my involvement than just my saying so, the reason I thought of this as a theory, was sometimes when I looked into the air I could see that it was made up of very very tiny, short and thin lines. Impossibly similar to The Matrix world being made up of Green Binary Language. Hmmm… Coincidence? Impossible.

Undoubtedly this possible phenomenon was the result of something to do with eyesight, and the medical technicalities of one’s eye, I don’t know you’d have to talk to some sort of ophthalmologist. Still. I was ten. And I believed it.

After that, it’s pretty much just a short skip and jump towards the whole red pill blue pill / rabbit hole / agents / bullet time fiasco which was released. I never said anything about it to anyone else of course, as I was laughed out the door, I could see the men with white coats waiting around the corner.

I’m sure that’d stand up in court right? Perhaps I should start taking some of these things that way. There’s close to £1 Billion in it for anyone thinking I have a case for a no win no fee case? Any takers?
